The Good News:
The babies are doing really great, both growing like they aren't sharing space! Jack weighed in a 2 lbs 8 oz and Sam at 2 lbs 4 oz. Their heartbeats were fantastic, the amount of fluid around each was great and pretty even, and all their other measurements were in the normal range.
The Bad News:
My cervix had thinned considerably since my last visit (from 40 cm to 20ish cm) and I was already dialated to a 1. Luckily I was not nor have I had any contractions. The doctor wanted to be very cautious and immediately admitted me to the hospital for observation overnight as well as taking 2 steriod shots (1 and then 24 hrs later the 2nd) to help develop the babies' lungs in case they needed to be delivered early.
The NICU doctor came to talk to us and prepare us incase the babies are to be delivered early, we would have some idea as to what to expect. Luckily there was no change in my condition and the doctor let me come home on full bedrest with bathroom privelages only.
Went back to the doctor Tuesday and again the babies are completely fine but my cervix is still changing depending on the babies positions. The nurse and the sonogram tech were thinking I was headed back in the hospital...probably for good, until the boys arrive.
Thankfully my mom was with me and could vouch that I really have only gotten up to use the bathroom and and that someone will stay with me to ensure that I am not doing ANYTHING the doctor let me come home. It has been pretty difficult getting used to not getting up to do even the simplest things like getting a cup of ice water or take a shower (which I am limited to every few days...ewww!) But I can do it, if it means that my babies can stay in and continue to grow stronger and healthier.
Our goal for now is to make it to 32 weeks and then if we make it that far we will try to make it to 34 weeks. My goal is make it to 36-38 weeks! We will see.
I'm so blessed to have a great support system...family and friends who have prayed these babies into existence and I know will pray them here healthy.
Last but not least here is a picture of Jack (A) and Sam (B) at 24 weeks...3D ultrasound.
